Let me tell you about myself...

I am Jess, and I am a Dentist...

I am so excited that you are here! I am a dentist that is passionate about oral health and sharing that knowledge with people just like you.

Before I became a dentist, I desired to go into a career that would allow me to give back and help people. Which brings me to this website! I am committed wholeheartedly in educating people and helping inform you on the types of decisions you can make regarding your oral health.

I graduated from Loma Linda University in 2018 with my Doctorate in Dental Surgery. I always knew that I wanted to go into the healthcare profession. As a small child I loved to dress up and play doctor. (Yes, I was that child who dressed up as a doctor or veterinarian for Halloween.) In high school, I had the opportunity to shadow a dentist for career day. I wish I could say that day changed everything and I was sold on dentistry from the start- but well that’s simply not true…

attended MacEwan University (in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada) and later transferred to the University of Alberta to pursue a Bachelor of Science degree with hopes of going into medicine. My 3rd year I had the opportunity to volunteer in a hospital-based emergency dental clinic. This is when my heart started to open towards a career in dentistry.

I was able to see how dentistry isn’t just about fillings, or cleanings, but how it actually is a just as much a part of medicine as any other component of the body. How we treat it affects the results we get, and the same way a small cut on our hand can infect our whole body, the health of our mouth, gums, teeth, etc. can lead to signs or help diagnose or cause different types of diseases. There is no separation between the oral cavity and the rest of our bodies. It is all interconnected. The health of one directly affects the other.

I believe there is a wide gap between the knowledge they teach us in dental school and the knowledge most people know when it comes to your mouth. You can walk into a bookstore and read about: gut heath, heart health, mental health, emotional health etc. but there’s really a limited amount of information out there about dental or oral health. My intention is to provide an authentic caring platform for you to learn about your dental health. Instead of just treating the problem with fillings, dentures, implants whatever… we as dentists need to do a better job explaining how to prevent dental diseases in the first place.

So that’s why I am here- I want to try my best to present information in a way that is digestible, easy to understand and in a format that is not threatening. My intention is to help you understand why oral health is important, educate on the prevention of dental disease, provide tips and tricks for homecare, give you my honest opinion on dental products available to the average consumer, and why your dental health matters!

Jess, I want you to educate me on oral health!
